Information about justice services that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
A focus area of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Agreement is that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their families and communities thrive in a safe environment and have equitable access to justice and culturally safe restorative practice, prevention and diversion programs. We will achieve this outcome by focusing on:
- supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait young people who come to the attention of the youth justice system through diversionary program assistance or access to individualised support as required
- provide social and emotional supports for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people who have a parent(s) who is incarcerated
- demonstrate increased opportunities for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to undertake activities on Country to promote health and wellbeing and improve justice outcomes
